Skillset Drinks Reception

Everyone with a ticket for GAMES EDU 06 gets to come to the Skillset Drinks Reception.

Ian Livingstone (EIDOS) & Kate O'Conner (SKILLSET) will be presenting 4 UK Universities with their accreditation certificates, announcing their benefits package, and detailing the plans for 2006/7.

This will be followed by a drinks session and an opportunity to meet the rest of the UK's top games educators.

Networking opportunities, a chance to share successes and mix contacts.

New Speaker Announced

Pixel-lab is proud to announce Charles Cecil has agreed to join the esteemed group of speakers at GAMES:EDU 06. 

Charles Cecil has been a key figure in the interactive entertainment industry for 25 years. He is currently operating as MD Managing Director for UK based company Revolution Software releasing such critical and commercial hits as Beneath a Steel Sky,  the Broken Sword series and more recently the Da Vinci Code . Charles is on the advisory panel of the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival, and Develop Conference and regularly talks at events and to mainstream press about creative and commercial aspects of the video games industry. He is also a co-founded and remains a Director of Game Republic, an alliance of game developers, and is a Board member of Screen Yorkshire, a regional agency that supports film, television and interactive entertainment in Yorkshire.

Charles will be discussing his thoughts on a more flexible movie style approach to making games.

Climax back GAMESEDU 06

Climax group are backing GAMESEDU 06 by becoming a Silver Developer Sponsor.

Climax has been developing hit games across all formats since 1988, including MotoGP: URT 1, 2 & 3, Sudeki and ATV Offroad Fury 3 to name but a few. The company has grown steadily over the years and is continuing to expand worldwide. Climax has studios in Europe and the United States.

Climax has a great history, but the future is even more exciting with  forthcoming titles such as The Fixer, which is being developed for next-generation consoles,  Steel Horizons on Sony PSP and MotoGP '06 on Xbox 360 & PC.  They are also currently working on a number of unannounced projects with Konami, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Bethesda Softworks & Buena Vista Games.

Skillset Drinks Reception

To mark the official launch of GAMESEDU06, the UK conference for games education, Skillset will announce the UK games courses which will receive Computer Games Industry accreditation at a special drinks reception which will take place on Thursday 13 July at the Metropole Hotel.

Skillset, the sector skills council for the audio-visual industries, will announce the newly accredited games courses with Ian Livingstone (EIDOS) and Kate O'Conner (Skillset) presenting the awards.
